Peanut Butter Chocolate Milkshake? Whats that all about?

sunny.gifToday we were up to +37C again. In the morning not a single cloud in sight, but during the afternoon a few spread clouds here and there. Morning air humidity 10% but got down to 0% in the afternoon. At night we had some clouds.

I was up at I spent the morning working. Its quite nice to be able to wake up at around 4 am and when Im done its still no later than 1 pm and I can go out and enjoy the day.

While I was working Amanda watched TV (I had my back to it and headphones on) but every once in a while I got a flicker of it... One interesting fact on the news was that peanut butter chocolate milkshake has so many calories in it that you have to eat 68 (SIXTYEIGHT) strips of bacon to get the same amount of saturated fat. I mean thats sick enough, but hey.. who the h*** got the idea to make a milkshake out of peanut butter and chocolate anyways? Even I have limits.... I mean chocolate spread and peanut butter is ok on the bread but in a milkshake? Too weird !

PoolOffice.jpgI also spoke of my sunburn with one of my american colleagues and he told me to check out this site for Environmental working groups sunscreen tests. Thats where you can read that only 8% of the sunscreens on the american market are good enough to get recommended. Of course my favourite brand Hawaiian Tropic is recommended to stay away from due to content of oxybenzone and vitamin A.and hight content of allergycausing ingredients. So.. Ill go get a few new tanning lotions then, but of the recommended brands.

Its a fact, its too cold for me inside with aircondition on at 21C. Its far below my comfort temperature that is 27-28C However we found a solution :D Amanda sits inside, I sit outside on the veranda and then we have easy access to eachother but I dont freeze and she dont melt :D
So, until the table is moved outside I found another solution. The apartment complex here has several swimming pools and the one closest to the reception has perfectly well functioning wireless!!! YAY That rocks.
So my office for the day was under an unbrella in the shadow by the pool... oh life is enjoyable!

When the workday ended Amanda had an appointment with the physio therapist and she dropped me off the mall. I walked around and found 2 nice shirts at Lane Bryant. Not bad for a 3 hour trip to the mall. Who knew I could be so controlled ? Hehehe.

chinoBandido.jpg
For Dinner Amanda took me to Chino Bandido. Whats special with Chino Bandido? Its a Mexican Chinese Caribbean combo restaurant. So you find caribbean and mexican food with a chineese twist. Its soooo delicious :D I had 2 different dishes in a combo.
Chile Relleno (Fresh Anaheim Chile stuffed withtwo kinds of cheese, crispy breaded exterior)
Jade Red Chricken (Lightly coated, deep fried chicken glazed with slightly spicy sweet sauce. Different and habit-forming)
My Jade Red Chicken was wrapped in Tortilla. Of course there was rice and cuban style black beans !! Yummy :D The principal of doggy bags are great ... Far too much food. The good news... Ill have for breakfast tomorrow :D

On our way home we stopped at Target for some shopping. I got a few things for my baby sister but apart from that didnt buy much.. I need to freight it over to California before Im going home so got to be careful with the amounts of purchase :D

I was soo tired when I got home though. Right off to bed :D Im not made for too little sleep, but i dont want to waste any of that beautiful daylight either :D

Easy day working and home.

sunny.gifToday we were down to +36C. Morning air humidity 10% but got down to 0% in the afternoon. Not a cloud in sight all day.

I was up at 4:30am again and started working early so that I could be able to go out early as well. After an efficient workday where I even managed to put in 2 extra hours I went to the pharmacy to get some stuff that I needed and got lunch at the food store. Then I headed directly for the pool and stayed there reading until 6pm when the sun went hiding behind a tree and it started to cool off.
Im reading the latest House of Night novel Burned.

Amanda was so nice and made us dinner; buffalo hamburgers and risotto. Both delicious!

I was awefully tired and my tummy hurt so I went to bed before 9.

Kierland Commons shopping

sunny.gifToday we were up to +37C again. Weather predictions tell us that we will only go up from here. +42C for the weekend :D Im in heaven. Air humidity 10%. At night a few scattered clouds.

Today I woke up pretty late. 5am. Latest until now during my stay.
I started working right away, but compared to the other days I was a lot more tired as I didnt sleep too well last night due to a terrible tummy pain. However as I got some breakfast the pain went away and I felt a lot better.

Kierland-commons.jpgAmanda woke up and joined me in the living room around 10 and as soon as I finished the workday we left for her physiotherapy session. She dropped me off at the Kierland Commons shopping Centre.

It is a truly beautiful centre. Not a Mall where all stores are inside the same building, but a collection of fancy stores with a beautiful outside area with palms in front of the houses and gorgeous floral decorations. It was a bit to high-maintenance pricey for me so I didnt actually buy much but I got a few small items among a new book for my reading in the sun enjoyment, and a few tiny kitchen items (corn holders, ice cube maker and baking spatulas). However I was mostly impressed by the gorgeous outside and enjoying the sun.

On our way home we stopped at Frys and picked up dinner for tonight. It was my show today and we had gorgeous salmon, baked eggplant with jarlsberg cheese, baked sweet potatoes and tomatoes :D YUMMY.

After dinner Amanda went to CostCo while I spent some time reading by the pool. Its sooo nice to be able to sit outside in the warm weather.

I also found out today that an old school friend of mine, Gerd Corrigan, lives in Tempe, Arizona and thats really close to Phoenix so I wrote to her and let her know Im in Phoenix and we organized to meet for lunch tomorrow ! That will be great!

A joyful encounter with my past

sunny.gifUp to 38 today. 10% but got down to 0% in the afternoon. We had a few light nice clouds scattered here and there.

Who would have known how incredibly small the world is ? Here I go to Arizona in US to visit a friend I have met through Couchsurfing and I find through Facebook an old schoolfriend, well she is not old seeing she is my age, that I only remember lives in USA but have no idea where in the US that she lives just 30 minutes from where I am visiting my friend.

Im so amazed. I met Gerd (that I shared 9 years in school with) for a late lunch today and it was so nice. We have probably not met since 1992 and suddenly we are stationed only 30 minutes away. She came to pick me up at the apartment complex where Amanda lives Crestone at Shadow Mountain

Picture%20059.jpgWe went down to the Paradise Valley Mall area and found a nice Pizzeria there. It has been over 15 years since last I met Gerd and we had a lot of catching up to do. Gerd and I spent 9 years in school together and I always remembered here as a nice girl, but we lost contact due to different paths in life and I am very happy to be able to meet her again now.
After lunch, Gerd took me to the Sports Authority store and I got myself a pair of Nike shoes :D YAY. SO much cheaper than at home :D
Thank you Gerd for picking me up and taking me home and for the enjoyable company :D

When I got home, Amanda was feeling really sick so she wanted to sleep. I went to the swimming pool to read and enjoy the daylight. It was soo good to stay out with these wonderful temperatures and enough light to read. I love reading ! I love loosing myself in a fantasy world :D

When it was time to go home, Amanda was not there. I figured she either had got to the store to pick up some stuff or she had gotten sicker. Unfortunately she was really sick and had had to go to the doctors. Amanda - Get well!!!

The Wild side - Phoenix Zoo

sunny.gifToday we were down to +42C. Morning air humidity 10% but got down to 0% in the afternoon. Not a cloud in sight all day.

I woke up this morning and the blues was all gone... Nah. I really didnt feel blue but I was just reminded about this old song "All the blues are written for you" by Celine Dion when I started writing and got into it. Why should i be blue, I mean its hot, sunny and beautiful outside and it was Zoo day today. Amanda still felt quite sick (although thankfully she got better during the day) so I decided I had to make it to the Zoo even if I would have to go alone.
Amanda searched up the bus schedules for me and shipped me off to the Paradise Valley Mall where I could take the bus.

Today was a first for a few thigns. Taking the buses in Phoenix. Admitting that it may have been a bit hot during the day, EVEN for me.Sweet potato fries instead of regular fries.. Great. Cool. i love trying new things.

As for the bus system as long as Amanda left me at the bus station there was great communication to the zoo, but i would have not wanted to walk there. Its a looong walk.

I took the 44 bus (44th to University) up to the 44th street and Van Buren intersection where I changed to bus 3 the let me off outside the Phoenix Zoo entrance.

However today were issued excessive heat warnings with temperatures over +42C. However considering how low the air humidity is (0%) after midday... it doesnt feel warmer than +39C. No matter how hot it feels, I have not often been in temperatures like this but I like. However my masacra didnt like.It was so hot that on my way to the zoo my make-up (mascara) started melting. I had to take it off! Which was rather easy. It peeled off like nothing.

I dont know how I can love such a heat so much, when its clearly even making even dead things suffer... yikes !

As for my trip to the Zoo I loved it. I generally love spending time in different Zoos and if there is a good big Zoo I try to go there (Until now I have been to London Zoo, Houston Zoo, San Diego Wild animal park (that is far better than any Zoo), Norway Zoo and several others + Wildlife refugee parks, National parks and other huge parks with nature and animals :D = countless).

I spent 4 hours walking around. For breakfast I had water, for lunch I had water and fried sweet potatoes / fried chicken, for middle meal I had water and ice cream... i know sounds like a sweet life but its difficult to feel hunger when your body is so busy keeping the system cool. Im really happy I brought my tanning lotion cause else I would have gotten a sunburn, however I absolutely positively think Im safe now moving over from SPF50 to SPF30. Ill move over to 15 soon enough and then.... THEN... yeah.. I am getting a tan :D

Pictures from the Zoo:

When I left the Zoo in bus 3 from the Zoo to the 44th / Van Buren Intersection, I had miscalculated the time and I had to wait for almost 1 hour for the next bus to take me from 44th to Paradise Valley Mall . I listened to good music and arrived in good time. I spent 30 minutes shopping 1 shorts, 2 shirts and 1 bikini before Amanda picked me up at 5pm.

When I got home Amanda wanted to relax some more and I went to the swimming pool. WOW it felt good to wash off all the dust and sand after todays walks in the Zoo with sandals only. Desert sand is nice to walk on no matter how hot it is (if you have shoes on - if not you burn).
I also spent some time reading and swimming more and reading more before I went home and Amanda and I watched TV before bedtime.

Its still amazingly hot so aircondition runs constantly. Even now at 11:30pm its +34C outside. The lowest temps we have been predicted are on +28C between 4 and 6AM. YAY :D

Driving through Apache Land

sunny.gifAnother excessive heat warning was issued. Or what I like to call now.. Another melt the make-up day. Hehe. Temps around +44C (111F) and air humidity at 10%. A few clouds here and there.

I woke up late, the latest until now during my stay. 8:30am. Almost getting into the time zone now. At least Im not waking up at 4 any more.

Denise called to let me know she wanted to pick me up in Phoenix and take me the scenic drive down to Tucson, which I am ever thankful for! and I spent the morning organizing my packing into the Los Angeles Suitcase and the Arizona Suitcase. What can go directly to Los Angeles and what need to stay in Arizona. I wont have too much time to pack for Los Angeles when I get back from Tucson.

At 2 pm Denise arrived and I was all settled and ready to go so I hopped in and we took off :D
(Pre-story here: Denise is my Couchsurfing host in Tucson and although we have never met before we have exchange emails and been in touch over skype).
Immediately I found that Denise is a very interesting and enjoyable person. We spoke of anything and everything and although the trip was long, it passed as if nothing.

Pictures from our trip:

apacheland.jpgDenise allowed several stops during the trip for me to take pictures
Our first stop was in Superior for lunch. We had Mexican food and boy was it good !!
Superior is a small copper mining town just about 1 hour outside of Phoenix.

We continued through the mountains of the Sonoran Desert , through the towns of Miami, Claypool, Globe, Dudleyville, Mammoth, Oracle, Catalina, Oro Valley until we arrived safely in Tucson.

We had a stop at the beautiful Besh Ba Gowah Archeological Museum where I got to take lots of beautiful pictures of flowering cacti and ruins.

Denise told me history and interesting facts about the places we drove past. Most of the cities were copper mining towns that were largely populated, but many are moving away from the cities now for the big towns instead.

Between Globe and Dudleyville Denis told me that this is Apache Land. Not that we saw any Apaches.

As we got home to Denise's house, a friend of hers - Lizard was waiting for us. Lizard is a motorbiking friend of Denise and she was a tough ,but dressed with a cute red rhinestone bandana. Dont get me wrong... She had a lot more clothes on than that! Its just that that bandana made it real cool :D
The three of us went out to meet Luis. Luis is a Mexican that lives at Denises house with his wife and 4 kids. Denise had used his car to take the 3 youngest kids to Mexico where she had also bought dog medicine for Lizards dog so we met Luis to get the medicine.

After that I was pretty dead meat and went to bed :D

First day in Tucson, Arizona

sunny.gifTemperatures are still high but they are not as high as during the weekend. We are at +42C today. Morning air humidity 10% but got down to 0% in the afternoon. Not a cloud in sight all day.

I got up at 7 and had slept sooooo well last night. My bed is just a luxury!
I was greeted by 5 happy dogs and a beautiful sunny morning and a cheery Denise. Her property is gorgeous. Lots of cactus, Animals (chickens and a horse in addition to the previously mentioned) flowers and its good and spacious with a great view.

We left for work at 8am and Denise drove me right up to my office building. 333 Wetmore Road where I was shown up in 6th floor to the receptionist waiting for Jerwin Garcia that is my contact here in Tucson.
Aker Metals and Aker Industrial Contractors are located here in Tucson.
I waited for Jerwin to get out of a meeting for about an hour and then he showed me around in the buidling finding me a place to sit and get organized.

I had quite a busy workday but for lunch break I went to Tucson Mall that is right next door to the office building. Ok not to lie but there is a bus station between the buildings. I had Honey Glaced chicken and rice for lunch. Yummy. For dessert a Cinnabon bun. They are soooo good.
That was practically the only food I got until 9pm so I didnt feel too bad about it :D

I was on such a roll for work that I didnt manage to get out until 8pm so all of that day passed without sun and outdoors (except for the trip to the mall :D )

Luis and his wife had cooked a delicious Mexican Soup for dinner and we had tortillas with cheese inside as a side order. YUMMY.
These people are all so nice. I always am very humbled when people take me in and take good care of me :D

Tucson Sunsets & Architechtures

sunny.gifTemperatures have lowered quite a bit and that may be a good thing. That excessive heat was hot. From 44 we have gone to a high 40C. I mean.. its still hot, just not THAT hot. Almost no clouds to be seen in the morning whereas in the afternoon we had a few good ones, helping out making the sunset fantastic !!!

Another workday and today I spent it exploring the area around my office. There is a Wal-mart and a Annas Linnen and lots of other nice stores. I got myself a few new shorts at WalMart during my luchbreak, as well as a bikini for my sister Linda and stamps to prepare postcards for sending off to friends and family in Norway.
Denise picked me up from work at 4:30 and then we went for her office so that she could show me where she worked. At the office she showed me lots of beautiful pictures of her place down in Mexico as well as pictures of her friends and family.

For dinner we went to el Guero Canelo for a Sammy Dog. It was a great Hot Dog. Its 2 Hot Dogs wrapped in a bun with beans, bacon, mustard, mayo and several other ingredients. It was great.

After that we went to the restaurant of one of Denises customers at San Carlos Grill and we had Flan for dessert. MAN I really have to learn how to cook good Flan.

In good time for the sunset, Denise took me up to the Sonoran Desert Museum area and at a mirador up there we were able to watch the sun set over the desert. It was so beautiful.
See here for pictures.

After the sunset was over she took me down to the houses in old Phoenix where she showed me around in the old city. There were beautiful houses and beautiful places. We ended up the trip with a visit to her friend Penny. Penny lives in one of the old houses and it was so gorgeous. She is an artist and she has handpainted all the walls with batique patterns that she has invented herself. She also showed us around the whole house, insides and outsides. It was such a gorgeous house. Penny also makes beads so she took us into her workroom where she had all the finished beads.

We were home late and in time for going to bed.

Cheesecake Factory with Heather

sunny.gifTemperatures were down to +37C today. No air humidity and no clouds in sight.

Denise gave me and Barbara a ride to work this morning and I was in the office in good time this morning. I had a meeting with Norway and for lunch I went over to the Tucson Mall. When I got back I was in such a deep concentration that when Heather came to pick me up I though we were far from the meeting time. It did of course not help that my clock had stopped and I thought it was 1pm instead of 4pm. I had to ask my colleagues about the time and was quite shocked when it was time to leave. No complaints though. My day just passed soooo fast.

I met Heather on the outside of the office and we took off to the Mall of Tucson where we walked around for 2 hours. I met Heather on a Twilight Fan website and since we are both going to the Twilight Convention in Phoenix we wanted to meet prior to the convention so that we would know someone there.
Meeting Heather was great. She is a nice and interesting girl and I enjoyed her company a lot. The two hours at the mall passed like a hummingbird speeding by your face. We went to the Cheesecake factory for dinner and we had fantastic food.
Mine was Honeyglaced chicken and I loved it. Boy was it good. For dessert we had cheesecake. I had a white chocolate / Rasberry chocolate cake and it was soooo gooood.
Heather was great company and after dinner we went home to her place to exchange New Moon trading cards. I got to meet her whole family including the two step daughters that will also be going to the convention. Nice.

She took me home to Denises flat and Lizard was there with Denise so I got to see her again before I left Tucson.
Denises two Chihuahuas Uno and Pia were with us, they are sooo cute. Pia has learned how to climb Denises legs to jump up to her lap and they are sooo spoiled its cute and funny :D

When Lizard left I had to spend some time packing before going to bed as tomorrow is my last day in Tucson.

Rattlesnakes and fry bread on the menu

sunny.gifTemps are down to +35C today. Feels neat !
Some clouds could be spotted throughout the day.

Denise brought me in early at work today and I had a hectic day to try to finish up as much as possible before the end of the day as I am entering my first week of the holidays now.
The end of the day came way to fast and suddenly it was time to leave as Denise came to pick me up. We picked up Barbara from her work and went home. On the way home we drove past first one and then another honeysellers of the local honey they have here in Arizona. I got one cactus honey, 1 mesquite, 1 orange blossom and 1 Summerhoney with mesquite and cactus and flowers. Awesome. Thats gonna be sooo good :D

Heavy weight but who cares :D

About 6pm Denise took me to the bus station where I cought the shuttle to the airport in Phoenix where Amanda came to pick me up :D
I read a huge amount of my book Spirit Bound in the Vampire Academy Series as well. Its a really good book!

We drove directly from there to meet her parents and brother at the Rustlers Rooste Restaurant where they treated us to dinner :D

On the menu:
RATTLE SNAKE

Amandas parents are so nice, just like her. Not because they treated us to dinner, but because they have an aura of kindness to them and they are really really nice to be around :D The restaurant was awesome. They had a live country band playing for us (and the other guests) and a gorgeous view as the restaurant was located on top of a hill :D

It was a great day and a great night :D THANK YOU Amanda and Parents :D

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse - Convention, Los Angeles, day 1

cloudy.gifOuch. The temperature drop from Arizona to Californias... Not recommendable. It felt sooo cold ! Only +20C (68F) is a huge difference from 104 in Arizona. Oh well. Im going to be inside anyways :D

I woke up early because of all the exitement for the weekend. I actually didnt even sleep well, but that was all due to all the upcoming exitement planned for the weekend :D

Amanda took me to the airport in good time for my flight and I checked in in more than good enough time. I spent some time checking out airport terminal 4 at the Phoenix Sky Harbour international airport. They have so many nice souvenirs that I will totally have to get some when I get back here in two weeks.
I spent the time before the flight took off to finish reading my book Spririt Bound. The boarding and the flight went really well and we landed in Los Angeles, California a little over 2 pm. So, how to get to the event in time? SuperShuttle :D
hyatt-regency-century-plaza-default.jpg Supershuttle is a shared airport cab service, they pick you up and drive you door to door from airport to where you are going or from your place of choice to the airport for a minimum of cost.
The cost from LAX to The hotel where the convention is held; The Hyatt Los Angeles Century Plaza Hotel. A gorgeous hotel visited frequently by film stars and presidents.
It sure is pricey enough and I had no intentions of checking in so I stored my luggage with the bell boy and headed down to the registration area for the convention. Woohoo. Finally the fun could start :D

At 6:35 we were scheduled to get our Friday session autographs by Tinsel Korey, Kiowa Gordon, Michael Welch and Justin Chon. That took its time and then it was about time to get prepared for the Cullen Crest A Gala Volturi Vampire Ball. I met Libbi, Belinda, Evelyn and Sarah at the ball and we had lots of fun.
You may wonder what a Cullen Crest A Gala Volturi Vampire Ball is? Well the Cullen Crest A is just the name of the specific ticket i got that described what day I was to go to the ball as this weekends fun is so packed that they are having one ball on friday and one ball on sunday planned.
During the Vampire Ball we are all supposed to go dressed up as Vampires - the so called Volturi or any other favorite character from the Twilight series. At each table the participants would set up their home made centerpiece art pieces for the centerpiece contest.

There was also a dance contest, a best costume contest and guest appearances by Kiowa Gordon, Justin Chon, Michael Welch and Tinsel Korey of the actual Twilight saga cast and the whole show was led by the Hillywood show cast.

8:30 PM Pre-Concert Party in the Plaza Pavillion
10:00 PM Celebrity Concert in the Los Angeles Ballroom

So that was the presentation of the Program, now lets get to business.
I arrived at the Hyatt just a little over 8 am and went downstairs where I met Libbi in the Vendors Area and we were taking pictures with Bellas Car, Jacobs Bikes and the Volturi Chairs.
She also got herself a Bella Green Courderoy jacket like I got yesterday. Its sooo cute :D

We also met up with Evelyn, Belinda and Sarah in the vendors area before we headed into the theatre to join the fun there. The exitement has risen since yesterday. Its already a huge improvement from yesterday. I mean the Cullen family panel was great and they are all so pretty. Elisabeth Reaser has the cutest laughter ever. She is just so adorable. Ashley Greene is so cute. I mean they are all pretty and they are all so nice. I am very pleased I got to come here and see them.
Not only myself but the whole crowd of us today were all so exited. Not only for the Cullen Family Panel of course but for all the sessions today and the exitement grew and grew throughout the day.
The Hilliwoods were doing an awesome job with the presentations and the shows they were putting on as well.

We also got to see trailers from Eclipse and some making of eclipse between the panels.
Bryce Dallas Howard and Xavier Samuel represented the Bad Vampires and BOY is that Xavier Samuel HOT when he is not trying to look scary!

The next panel on was Gil Birmingham, Christian Serratos and Daniel Cudmore. Daniel Cudmore is yet another HOTTIE. I cant wait till next weekend to have my photo Op with him :D
In the Q&A Session Daniel was asked to reveal something that none of us knew about him. When he was a kid he had danced Ballet with his siblings.

It was time for lunch and I walked around with my new friends Evelyn, Sarah and Belinda. Its so exiting to spend time with other Twi-Hards. Not just me alone like at home. Or feels like it anyways !

After Lunch Booboo Stewart and Tyson Houseman were on. Its easy to see now that not only are the seats filling up, but also the crowd got more and more exited throughout the day.

When the Wolf Pack Panel got on the crowd was boiling and people screaming, howling and enjoying themselves. It just got more and more evident throughout the day that today was a BIG day. Alex Meraz impressed widely when he was asked what his hidden talent was and he answered Capoeira. He was then asked to show us but didnt want to until we revealed that Daniel Cudmore had shown us some of his Ballet tricks when he was on stage .THEN Alex took the challenge and he totally blew our minds with his Capoeira show. It was magical! Truly awesome!.

When the big three were to enter stage the crowd had already waited a longe time and they were frantic, screaming and howling waiting for them. They were over 45 minutes delayed to the the official press conference going on at the hotel for the upcoming The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Movie that will be released on the 24th of June.

When they finally entered the stage the screaming and howling was insane. I would be scared to death if I was one of them. I pasted links to the show and now you can see what you think as well !

Part 1 of the performance:

Part 2 of the performance.

Part 3 of the performance

I spent a huge part of the day with Libbi from England, Sarah from Belgium and Evelyn and Belinda from Los Angeles. Since Marco lives quite far away from the Hyatt, Sarah let me stay in her hotellroom and we checked out all the new ECLIPSE trading cards I had bought ! They rock !!

The Twilight Saga Eclipse Convention - Day 3

cloudy.gifYet another day of cold California weather. Yikes. Ok. Its really not that cold when you come to think about it but the difference From Arizona is HUGE.
We are in out +76F/+23C today in LA. Compared to the 40 we have had in Arizona, I am happy I have warm clothes with me. It was completely cloudy.

I woke up this morning and Sarah and I spent some time reading and just relaxing before we prepared to go back to the convention. Evelyn and Belinda came to pick us up and we went to Borders to check out for new twilight gear before we went back to the convention.
Evelyn and Belinda dropped us off at the convention because Sarah had a photo op with Sundays guests.

So Sarah and I walked around in the vendors room then listened in on a few of the Theatre events.
I participated to the YES / NO trivia game and came second, but unfortunately 2nd didnt give me a price.
Evelyn and Belinda came back and we went over to sit with them.

I was picked up by the SuperShuttle at 3:30 to go to the airport and 3 other twilighters were also going home from the Convention so we could still talk lots for the next hour on our way to the airport. One of the girls is also going to the Phoenix Convention.

At the airport I got to know a nice girl that sat next to me living in Los Angeles but on her way to San Francisco for the week. She was great company. When she cought her flight I found a nice Las Vegan studying in Los Angeles on his way to Phoenix to visit family. Time came to board the plane and I found a nice article about Puppies being trained behind bars to become service dogs. It was a great idea considering the inmates have the time in the world to train the dogs.

When I got home Amanda picked me up at the airport and once at home she made me Tacos. Amanda is a fantastic host and I am enjoying my time with her so much !
Thank you Amanda!

Needless to say - Early night after the weekends exitement !

Relaxing monday after one of the most exiting weekends in years

sunny.gifTemps are on the rise again. Last week it was down to +36C, today we crept over +40. No clouds again. I like this! No air humidity.

I was soooo tired today. I woke up 11:30 and then just spent the day dozing off and washing clothes. I didnt really do anything. Amanda was relaxing too and we watched the movie The Good Son:

We were in bed early.

June 15, 2010

Winners Luck

sunny.gifTemperatures are still high but they are not as high as during the weekend. We are at +42C today. Morning air humidity 10% but got down to 0% in the afternoon. Not a cloud in sight all day.

I woke up 9 am and that was sooo good. I have been really exhausted after the weekend, but now catching up. I spent the whole day working despite my intended-to-have-vacation day.

However for lunch I participated in a competition to win tickets for the official Billy Burke record release party Are you ready to be removed?. Billy Burke is the actor that plays Bellas father in The twilight Saga.

It all started out with me signing up to the Billy Burke website fanlist some months ago. Billy released his first song, his first movie and then now he will release a whole album of songs during this party next week. So I have been at this fanlist updates for a while and yesterday he announced that the 30 first people to reply to an email he would send today would win tickets to a concert downtown LA in Hollywood !!! So today between the specified hours he had given, I was waiting and I had a draft ready to ship as soon as I got the mail. I shipped it off within 10 seconds of recieving the email and then I had to wait.

So I finished off my workday and then Amanda and I went to the swimming pool for a few hours. Its really nice to be able to go to the swimming pool when its this hot outside! We read, talked and enjoyed the nice day until Amanda went home earlier and left me there as I wanted to stay out longer. When the sun prepared to go down I went home too and guess what.

I WON the competition. I am now officially on the guestlist of a Hollywood party. I can bring one guest !! :D I love it !

Amanda made us chicken and baked potato with Spinach for dinner. It was delicious. We watched a travel program about Borneo after that before going to sleep.

Working on my tan, reading and relaxing

sunny.gifGreat temperatures today. As usual +42C and not a cloud in sight :D 0% air humidity. Gorgeous day :D

Not much happening today. I spent the day by the pool and relaxed reading books and working on my tan :D Not all days can be as interesting.

Shadow Mountain

sunny.gifToday we had another cloudfree day with temps up to +42C (106F). 0% air humidity. Gorgeous sunny weather.

So I woke up and did some packing and then spent a while working before I went to the pool. That tan is starting to come on now !! :D YAY I got a few new books now and the one I started reading today is called Devil may cry. It seems highly promising up until now.

So, close to Amandas place there is a tiny mountain called the Shadow mountain. Well, compared to our Norwegian mountains back home its not much more than a hill, but who cares.
So, today I decided that I was going to climb that mountain. I got water and set off. Its not even a 10 minute walk from Amandas house to the foot of the mountain, so I got there fast enough. As I climbed up it was so nice. Sun was burning - and I dont mean as it did earlier during the day when i was at the swimming pool - it BURNED. I was stashed on water and drank till I was as full as I could be, but I mean it was sooo hot.
I can handle the heat when I walk calmly. I can handle the heat strolling for a day in the zoo, but climbing up that mountain was the weirdest thing I have tried for a long while. I tried hard, but the heat really got to me. The first hill was ok, but at a certain height I almost fainted. Eyes went black and all. I stepped down a few steps and got better and with some time i was all good, so I tried going up again, slower this time. I made it to the top with this slow walk while I drank my fair share of worlds water reservoirs. I started the highest mountain and reaching the same height I had the same experience. Blackening in front of the eyes, dizzy. I tried babysteps. 5 steps up and rest, 5 steps up and rest. I had to give up. I didnt want to but I had to. I would have fainted. So I lowered and walked around on the other trails. I had no problems. I tried walking up again. Same hints of almost fainting and blackening spots behind my eyes.
Im not sure if it was the heat or the altitude (which is not that high up anyways) but the heat was def part of it. I mean.. who other than a raving lunie Norwegian would get the idea that its smart to climb a mountain in +42 (106F) C?
Even the desert queen (myself) had to admit that it was a bit hot in Arizona today.

The rest of the water I emptied over my head, then went home and changed into swimsuit and went to the pool again. Not to worry. I did not spend the rest of my afternoon in the sun. I simply jumped into the pool and stayed there until I got cold enough!
Then I spent the rest of the afternoon in the shadow talking to all these people that came for a swim.

When I got home Amanda had gotten us a nice last evening dinner to have together and dessert and it was so nice of her. Then we watched the movie

When in Rome

Man. That Josh Duhamel is some HOTTIE :D

Twilight Convention - Phoenix, Arizona - Day 1

sunny.gifIt was a fantastic day today. We had +40C and gorgeous sun from clear sky.
No complaints about the weather to be made :D

I woke up and was a bit sad because it was my last morning with Amanda and its always sad to leave good friends, however I was also incredibly exited to go to the Twilight convention and see my idols and my new friends Heather and her kids + Katarina again.
But before that, Amanda got the happy message that SHE GOT A JOB today !! I am sooo happy for her! She lost her job just some days before I was scheduled to arrive so we got to spend a lot of time together, but it was always with the knowledge that she just lost her job, so i am soo exited that i got to be there with her when she found out ! :D

When we had eaten breakfast and I had packed every single last piece of my belongings, Amanda took me to the WigWam Resort. We stopped to get food for the weekend and then got ourselves over to the hotel and checked in and registered for the convention :D

I made it in time for the YES/NO trivia game at 3:20 and then participated to the program after that. Katarina was seated on front row and Heather a few rows back to me so they were fairly easy to find. The Peter Facinelli Panel was awesome ! He is as gorgeous as he looks in Nurse Jackie. See also Sho Entertainments Nurse Jackie Official site .
Few facts: Peter is married to Jennie Garth that played Kelly Taylor on the new FOX series Beverly Hills 90210. They have 3 kids together.
Peter was good sport with all the fans and we got pictures and autographs and after the official program Heather and the kids took me to have dinner outside the hotel area (hotel was very expensive) and we had italian food at a nearby restaurant :D

When we got back I joined the Friday night Karaoke concert with Peter Facinelli and Candace Charee :D (she is one of the possible singers signed up for Breaking Dawn soundtrack). It was hilarious and I hung out with Katarina and her sister and Kat and I were singing (read: howling) in on all the songs :D It was so much fun :D

Most of the day I spent with Heather and the girls and Katarina and her sister. I didnt buy much stuff as they didnt have as good of a choice as in LA but who cares. That was not the important part :D The sessions with the wolf pack were great and I enjoyed my time a lot.

Heather and the kids had to leave after the saturday autograph sessions, but I was so lucky to find Vonda and her daughter and their friends and they invited me to have dinner with them. I met them last night and they were really nice :D We had dinner at the 4 diamond rewarded restaurant Reds Steakhouse lead by Chef De Cuisine Michael Scott. It was such a wonderful dinner. Exploring Tempe with Gerd and Audun

sunny.gifAnother fantastic day. Im starting to rethink this whole living in Norway thing. Arizona is great. Great temperatures. We had +42C again and not a cloud in sight - AGAIN:D 0% air humidity. Gorgeous day :D

I woke up around 9am and got up to talk with Audun and Gerd before starting the day. Gerd made a delicious omelet for breakfast and when her work appointment showed up for their meeting I took off on Gerds bike :D Gerd had made me a map and I had no problems finding the city, the post office and eventually the mall. I stopped everywhere and took pictures. Tempe is a great city. Lots of action and life and yet seemingly so quiet and relaxed :D
The bike ride was great and I stopped all over Tempe picking up a few gifts for home, some stuff for me and then I continued biking to the river and then I followed the river to the Tempe Mall where I spent some hours looking in stores all over.

Gerd came to meet me for lunch and we ate at CHIPOTLES. Man, I love Chipotles :D Its sooo good !

We stopped at Target before going home and once at home we washed some clothes, relaxed in the garden and just chilled.

When Audun got home from work we went to walk the dogs at a nearby mountain and Gerd tought me how to use the camera for taking sunset pictures with a long shutter time. The pictures turned out great as you can see over. :D

When at home we made pasta and then we had dinner out in the garden. It was soo good :D A fantastic night and great company!

Billy Burke Removed Record Release party at the House of Blues in Hollywood

sunny.gifGreat temperatures today. As usual +42C and not a cloud in sight :D 0% air humidity. Gorgeous day :D

I woke up early and packed my stuff and played with Gerd and Auduns dogs.
Audun had to go to Tucson today so he said goodbye before he took off for work and for breakfast Gerd took me to John and Jimmys sandwitch bar and then we went to the post office to ship my catch from Target yesterday.
That was easily 15 pounds, but it was not as expensive as I would have thought it to be so that was good news :D
After that we drove around to find Tapioca seeds and we ended up at the Whole Foods market. They had Tapioca seeds but not black ones that I am searching for. However I will find them somewhere :D

Then Gerd and I went home again and I had a shower before Gerd took me to the airport early.

Good thing she did though because my flight was cancelled !!!! EEEEK. I totally panicked thinking of the Billy Burke concert and the appointment with Libbi.
THANKFULLY I was very early for my flight and the personnel booked me on the flight 1 hour before my original flight and everything was solved for the best ! Things obviously worked out so much better today than I would have thought, I think I was meant to go to that concert :D
Not only winning the tickets, but also because I was allowed to bring a friend.

I picked up a few souvenirs, went through security and sat down to wait for my flight. Nothing interesting happend neither there nor during the flight and I was even lucky with the suttle services too. One came just a few minutes after I got out of the airport. We picked up passengers from all the terminals. Even the traffic wasnt too bad and I checked in at Hollywood and Highland Hostel and Hotels in good time before the concert and I checked in and got myself over to the Hollywood House of Blues to meet Libbi :D I met Libbi at the Twilight Convention last weekend in Los Angeles.

When we met up we realized that there was people nicely dressed up everywhere and we were like... OhOh.. we are like totally underdressed. Eeeks.
Thankfully... We were not. Those overdressed people were participating at a different event in the first floor. Turned out... Billy Burkes record release party was in the Foundation room up in the third floor ! Woohooo :D We are game.
I would have thought that it was a huge event but in reality it turned out to be a rather exclusive party. Only 100 guests whereof 30 fans + their friends and the rest of the crowd was Billys friends and family. His father was there, his lovely wife, Pollyanna Rose, was there and of course camera folks, managers and the band. :D
One of the smallest concerts I have been to but also one of the nicest.
After the concert Billy handed out CDs and signed them for those interested. We were also handed out CDs on our exit.

Thanks to Erika that gave up her spot so that I could take good pictures !

It was a wonderful evening and I enjoyed every single moment of it. When I got back to the hostel I watched some lame TV shows until I had processed the great night and was ready for sleeping.

And yes if you recognize Billys face - its only because you have probably seen him as Bella Swans dad in The Twiligh Saga movies :D

I own an apartment !!!! and I spent the day celebrating in Universal Studios, LA

sunny.gifWe had a fantastic California day today. The temperatures were in the +25C degrees. Hot enough and nice and comfortable during daytime :D Smog in the morning, but really nice the rest of the day and no clouds throughout the day.

I woke up at Hollywood and Highland after a night of not too much sleep. Lets admit it, not all hostel beds are high quality soft and nice and the one I slept in last night, certainly was not.

I shared room with 2 other girls but they didnt wake up early enough and I was dying to call home. They finally woke up and I called my broker at home.
The thing is: I told you earlier that I have bid on a flat. This flat is owned by OBOS. A cooperation that allows members with a longer membership senioritythan the person that buys the flat. What does this mean? It means if I put in a bid for a flat and I am the winning bidder, after I won the bid its put up for showings and takings for all the members of the coop with a longer seniority than me. This means that even after I won the bidding round, I can loose it.

Today was the day that the deadline for the purchase on option to buy expired and finally I found out that noone used their seniority to snap the place right in front of my nose just because they have a longer membership than me in OBOS.

So, the good news for those that didn't get it yet.
I AM FROM TODAY THE OFFICIAL NEW OWNER OF AN APARTMENT !
I am stoked and happy and after having booked the room for another night (tonight Ill have it by myself) I went to Universal Studios so that I could celebrate the purchase of the new flat ! :D

I cant express well enough how happy I am about the apartment / the flat.

I spent some time walking up and down Hollywood Boulevard taking pictures and enjoying the morning before I took the metro to Universal Studios where I called my Mom and Dad to tell them about the good news :D

I spent most of my day in Universal Studios taking pictures and riding the Jurassic park water slide. However I did also try out the simpsons 4D rollercoaster ride, the Mummy ride and I went to the House of Horrors and watched the Waterworld show.
I had so much fun I was totally soaked after riding the Jurassic park water slide so many times that I had to dry off in the sun. Haha. I loved my day at Universal Studios.

See my pictures here:

I was back at the hostel at 6pm and spent the evening listening to the Billy Burke album and catching up on email, uploading pictures, editing pictures and writing entries in my blog.
It was so nice to spend a quiet evening by myself.

The Norwegain Sailors Church in San Pedro, Los Angeles

sunny.gifSunny, beautiful cloudfree day. The temperatures were in the +26C degrees. Nice and comfortable :D Smog until midday, but the rest of the day no clouds and blue sky.

I got up early and finished off some more paperwork and preparations for the day. Todays schedule was to visit the Norwegian Sailors Church in San Pedro, Los Angeles.
No reason to think that I've gone all religious on you by now (not that there is anything wrong about being religious), but I needed to send a signed example the purchase contract to my broker and I need to send a copy of my identification signed by two fellow norwegians and with an officially approved by the Norwegian government stamp of original copy of the ID. Easily explained... I wont find that anywhere in Los Angeles so I needed to seek out other Norwegians.

They didnt open until 11 am and I had check out of my hostel room before 10 so I checked out and went down to Union Station to store my luggage there until I would be picked up by Marco after work. Of course when I got to Union Station I wasnt allowed to store my luggage there as I didnt have a train ticket, so what do we do? I couldnt just leave my luggage unattended and I wasnt about to drag it all over town. I mean Los Angeles is not a tiny city ! so I got a ticket. The cheapest, nearest ticket was to Fullerton but at least I would be able to store the luggage safely the whole day and that was more important than any price of a train ticket.

From Union Station I took the Silver Line bus to Artesia Transit Centre and from there I took bus 247 to San Pedro and hopped off at 7th street / South Beacon St and from there I walked the rest of the way to the Church.
They have a gorgeous view over the harbour and I took a few good pictures :D

Inside they were sooo nice. I got waffles and tea and they sold chocolate !! I was soo happy. I havent even been out of the country for a month and I go insane when I see good chocolate. Hihihihi. I spent a good time there before I started working my way back to Union Station.
I stopped at a mall to get some food before I continued my way back. I was there at 6pm and then I went to stroll up and down the famous Olvera Street a few times.

I read a few magazines before Marco came to pick me up and we went to have Thai dinner before we continued on to his place. I was exhausted and so happy to finally be able to sleep :D

ECLIPSE

Other than that - Today was the LONG awaited Red Carpet Premiere for The Twilight Saga: ECLIPSE - Only 6 days left for the general public to be able to see the new movie in theatres !!!
I CANT WAIT

Relaxing day - catching up on sleep

sunny.gifSunny, beautiful cloudfree day. The temperatures were in the +26C degrees. Nice and comfortable :D No clouds and blue sky.

Ok Im a bit embarrassed today. So what did I do? Well thats what I am embarrassed about. I woke up at 11:30 pm and spent some time catching up with myself. I had slept so long I felt I had cotton in my head. Juana (Marcos mom) cooked me breakfast and we had a long and great chat. Marcos newphew, Sean, drove me to Ross, a clothing store closeby where I got some clothes for my sisters. I walked home, taking pictures of flowers and enjoying the hot temperatures.
However this is the part Im embarrassed about... When I got home, I fell asleep again for another 5 hours :D Hehehehe. I spent the evening just catching up on emails and blogging until Marco got home.
Marco said:
PACK, We are going to VEGAS with my friend Chris !!!!

Sunrise in Las Vegas.

sunny.gifSunny, beautiful cloudfree day. Temps in Vegas were 86 as we entered the city by dawn but got up to 95 within the time we left at 8:30 AM :D In Los Angeles it was about +26C degrees. No clouds and blue sky all the way.

So, when Marco came home with his friend Chris to tell me that we were going to Vegas I packed up really quickly and gathered together my blankets and pillows for sleeping in the car. They did come home just after midnight after all. Good thing I spent most of yesterday sleeping after all !!! :D
I gave it an honest try to sleep, but I rested more than I slept although I must have dozed off some during the trip. It was fun listening to the guys chatter too though :D We had quite a few stops along the way. We were all tired. At the Nevada stateline we stopped so Marco could get some sleep before continuing driving to Las Vegas.

As we got closer to Las Vegas the sky became a little bit lighter and sunset was upon us as we entered Sin City. It was gorgeous to see all the lights and the real deal of Vegas. Marco was exhausted so he fell asleep in the car and Chris showed me around so that I could take pictures, get souvenirs and walk around. We even entered a few Casinos to look around. Not that I gambeled much. I did blow off 5 USD on a slot machine just to say that I played in Vegas, but I kept it low :D

It was amazing to see people in the streets at 8AM in the morning. Some drinking, some making out, some jogging and some just relaxing. Vegas is the city where it doesnt matter if its night or day. Its still full of live at any time.

Alex drove home. Marco slept in the back and I accompanied our driver in the front to assure he didnt fall asleep. It was a gorgeous trip throuh the Nevada desert. Truly beautiful with the Joshua trees and the other desert flowers and bushes. We dropped of Chris at his place and went back to Marcos house where we had lunch before going to bed for another few hours.
In the afternoon Marco took me to Target and we picked up some food and other stuff I needed for my sister Ellens birthday (although that is pretty far away I know what Im giving her :D)

Considering the lack of sleep last night.. I called it an early night :D

Manhattan Beach, Los Angeles

partlycloudy.gifIn the morning we had gorgeous sunny weather up in Granada Hills and we decided to go to the beach. On the other hand when we got closer towards the beach we realized that it was cloudy at the beach. No fun spoiled though as it was both warm enough and the sun popped out every now and then. The temperatures were in the +26C.

I woke up in good time. Not early, not late and had breakfast and watched a program about dangerous snakes in the Tropics and Ihad a nice talk with Juana before she left for church. Marco woke up and we watched the first part of the Argentina - Mexico game before we went to the Manhattan beach. It took us about 40 minutes to drive there.

The beach was fantastic. It was really nice and although the water was a bit cold, it was not cold enough to stay out of :D According to Marco I was in the water playing in the waves for over 2 hours :D I did have a break in between :D Now I have a nice tan :D Or what Europeans like to call - The lobster look :D
Hopefully it will pass in a few days :D

However the trip to the beach was great. I had so much fun playing in the water and I got a great workout as well as playing in the waves. Some of them were fierce and the currents from the different waves took all kinds of directions. I almost lost my bikini several times hehehe. So trying to keep balance in the water not only did I end up looking like a lobster but I also have the pleasure of hurting all over my body after the workout. Hahaha :D
Thankfully for the rest of the day we didnt have much planned but watching TV and chilling.
Nice night. While we watched new episodes of simpsons, family guy and then later criminal mind I also got to update and edit my latest pictures for you to view on my picasa albums.

Newport Beach, Balboa Island, Laguna Beach, Lunch at The Cliff and a birthdayparty.

cloudy.gifTemperatures were around +25C all day and it was cloudy all day. We just saw a few hints of sunglimpses today, but there is no reason to let that stop me from having a fantastic day!
Towards the nigthfall we had some light drizzling although not enough to call it rain.

LEAVING LOS ANGELES
Marco woke me up at 6 am as he had to go to work and drop me off at Union Station I had packed the only bag I needed for the 3 next weeks and I was ready with only a few minor adjustments. The rest of my luggage will wait for me in Marcos house until I get back to LA in 3 weeks.
At the Union Station I got tickets for the Metrolink train towards Oceanside, stop Fullerton and then I texted Vanessa to let her know I would be in Fullerton at 8:30am.
I was picked up at Fullerton Station and Vanessa and I headed to the AT&T store and refilled my pay as you go phone card.
After that we drove over to target and I got lots of stuff for my sisters like comforters, a lamp, curtains and clothes + some other stuff.

When we were done running errands in Fullerton we drove to Newport Beach where we took the ferry over to Balboa Island where we walked around. Newport beach is a gorgeous little place, with small beach houses and tiny cute stores.
Vanessa and I continued over to Laguna Beach where we had lunch at a gorgeous restaurant called The Cliff with a view to kill for. I had a fantastic Halibaut meal and Vanessa had a Chicken Taco. For starters we had coconut shrimp with tropical sauce.
It was a lovely meal with great company!
After the lunch we went down to the beach to take pictures before we headed back to Newport Beach where we had a Frozen Banana covered in Chocolate before we headed back to Fullerton to drop me off at Alexandras place where Ill be staying for the next week :D
Vanessa left me there and I joined the Murcia crew knowing I would see my friend Vanessa again in 2 weeks.

BIRTHDAY PARTY
As I arrived at Alexandras place and she told me we were going to her aunt (Lisa) and uncles (Chris) place to celebrate grandma Vickys y4th birthday. Thankfully I had brought a gift to her from Norway (not knowing it would be her birthday, but still came in handy today). I was also introduced to Alex'es friend Sarunas that was there with us.
It was nice seeing Chris, Lisa and their two girls Tori and Katie again (Thats where I stayed last thanksgiving when I visited Alex) again and Alex'es brother Nathan was also there.

We had gorgeous food and it was a great party. After dinner we played Wii and sang beatles songs before we played Catch Phrase :D
It was a lot of fun. A fantastic day !

ECLIPSE

partlycloudy.gifTemperatures were around +25C all day and it was cloudy most of the day. It cleared up around 2pm, and stayed nice after that.

When we woke up Alex and me drove over to Katie and Toris place where we pickecd up Katie and went to get tickets for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. Then we went to McDonalds to pick up food before the Spain / Portugal game that we saw at Katie and Toris place. Nathan went out biking.
Spain won 1-0 over Portugal and after the game we went shopping.
I got doorknobs for my new flat. All american style. Press the button and its locked and twist it and open. No keys demanded :D I got one for each door in the apartment !! I love them ! :D

Then we went to Bath and Bodyworks where I picked up some gifts for my Norway friends and some for me :D Ok. My luggage is going to be SOOOO heavy when i go home !!!!

I had a 3 hour powernap before we watched The Twilight Saga: NEW MOON to prepare for the release of ECLIPSE :D

Then we drove off to the theatres and we were let into the screening room to wait until it started.

My oh my. It is a piece of art. It is lovely ! I am sooo gonna see it again :D

Workday from Fullerton

sunny.gifTemperatures were around +27C all day and it was another gorgeous day.

As we went to see the Eclipse movie last night at midnight I was up pretty late yesterday and woke up late today. Alex had already gone to work and Tori and Katie were sleeping over so Grandma Vicky made us all breakfast and we had a nice family meal. Grandpa Carlos had lots of questions about Norway and we agreed that I would find pictures and facts when my workday was done and show them.
I had to spend parts of the day working as I want to save up some of my holidays for the weeks I am in Norco and San Diego as well :D and since Alex was working anytimes, I wanted to spend that time working so we could hang out when she was not working.

Alex got home quite late, but that was good as I spent all day working anyways. For the night we just chilled at grandma and grandpas house

Welcome to my blog and page. Enjoy !
